Mise En Scene: The mise en scene of this music video is very stereotypical to traditional boy bands such as Westlife etc. The young boys are dressed to impress, they are wearing similar trousers and t shirts so that they look like a united boy band. This is a pop song and this is represented in the way that the characters look and act, by all looking similar and looking very groomed and well looked after they are meant to appear to be attractive to the female audience and attract them by being a typical boyband.
In this shot the group is using an over the shoulder shot to show him in the mirror. In the left hand side of the screen there is a small box with Mtv written in it and the name of the song and the band that this media group have created. This is effective within a low budget music video and were also going to do it in our video, too show the company that we are performing for and it is also a common trait within proffessional music videos.
This is a shot of the replica boyband, performing the song and dancing in time to the music. Dancing as a boyband is stereotypical to a pop song like this, If our group does a pop song then a dance routine would be beneficial as it is a common convention of most pop songs.
This shot is of the main boy within the band lip syncing exactly in the music straight into the camera. This is also a common convention of a pop video. They often have the boy band members all singing into the camera so that you get a full view of thier face and their facial expressions. The actor has to look happy and likes hes enjoying singing the song.
This shot shows another member of the boyband yet again lip syncing and singing to the camera. In the background there is lighting and they look like proffessional lighting as the rest of the room is in darkness except for the bright spot lights. This creates a proffessional feel to the song and makes it look like its been set up with thought and proffessionaly.
A-Ha Imogen Heap. By Greg Bernstein & Joshua Moss This music video was low budget and was created at A2 level by two students.
The first picture i have used of the titles, which is the first clip to appear on the screen is effective because it makes the music video look more real and believable. The credits at the beginning of this music video are the same as a normal music video. This shows proffessionalism with the music video editing.
The first location of the music video is what looks like a silhouette of a person, and they appear to be in a forest. By using lots of different shot types and locations it makes the music video more interesting to watch, the viewer wants to keep watching it because of the random clips and locations all strung together.
The third picture is of another location which is a jewellry box in the forest which is yet another location, and it adds variety and a unique sense to the music video. This makes the video more abstract and different. It makes it interesting and this is a good tecnique to use when you dont want to create a cheesy storyline.
The fourth picture represents the good mise-en-scene because the whole video is in black and white and then the nails are bright red. This makes that particular shot very effective and proffessional looking because the shot is composed well. This would be good for our music video too because it keeps the viewers attention and makes the music video attractive to watch.
